Marriage records are available from Vital Records from 1919 to present. This record will state that a marriage took place. It will name the two parties, the date of the marriage, and the location of the marriage. To apply to access a marriage certificate, fill out the application provided by the New Jersey Vital Records Website.

If neither applicant is a New Jersey resident, submit the application in the municipality where the marriage ceremony will be performed.
